Lance’s Bio
Growing up in a Christian home in Southern California, Lance accepted Christ at age five. He and his family were very active in a mainline denominational church as Lance grew up. In his early teens, Lance fell in love with surfing and the surf culture. By his early 20s, Lance began shaping surfboards and started a business under his label “Summer Boards”. With time, Lance opened a retail surf shop in La Mirada, CA, where teenagers thronged. The Lord pierced Lance's heart for those lost kids, using his connections and his "surfboard shaper" image to open spiritual doors with many of the troubled youth. Lance would listen to their problems and then share his faith in Christ, inviting the kids to come back to a Tuesday night gathering to discuss the Bible. The Bible study continued to grow, and the kids began inviting their friends and family to come hear about the Lord.
The Bible study at his surf shop grew into the hundreds. In order to accommodate the growth, they would gather in parks and various indoor space that people would let them utilize around town. Eventually God would move this young group of skaters & surfers into a warehouse, where they would add Sunday morning services. It was at this time that Lance would embrace his calling and accept the pastorate of the church God had planted through him. Four years later, God would move the group once again, this time it was to the city of La Habra, where they were able to purchase and renovate an old Alpha Beta shopping center into what became Calvary Chapel La Habra. Once established, the church began a close relationship with the city of La Habra that has remained constant for over 16 years, facilitating various outreaches and community events every year.
With multiple services a week, Calvary Chapel La Habra has remained a pillar in the community, operating as a place for people to come and hear the Word of God on a weekly basis. As the church continued to multiply, so did the vision. Mission trips began in local Mexico, Japan, Rwanda, Wales, Panama, Kenya, Ireland, and various other countries and cities, as Calvary Chapel La Habra began to send out its members to minister across the globe. When disaster struck across the world, teams were sent out to Thailand, Japan, and the Gulf Coast, and the ministries have continued throughout the years.
He and his wife Lori have been married for over 3 decades and three daughters, two sons-in-law, and five grandchildren: Ezra, Scotti, Shiloh, Sage, and Summer.
